This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It applies to the Momnt mobile application, our website at usemomnt.com, and the services provided through them.
Most of this policy describes information relating to a Momnt account. If you only visit our website and never create an account, the sections that apply to you are Cookies and similar technologies, How we share information, and Your choices and rights.
Momnt is operated by Shehab Adel, based in Egypt. In this Privacy Policy, "Momnt", "we", "us", and "our" refer to the operator of the Momnt service.
Our Terms of Service govern your use of Momnt, and our Community Guidelines explain the standards that apply to content and behaviour on Momnt.
1. Information we collect
- Account information — Your email address, username, display name, date of birth, and referral information where applicable.
- Profile information — Information you choose to add, such as a profile photo, bio, public link, and country.
- Content you create — Your Moment photos, captions, comments, mentions, and reactions.
- Interactions — Information about how you interact with other users and their content, including who you follow and who follows you, reactions, comments, mentions, and blocks.
- Reports and safety information — Reports you submit, reports submitted about you or your content, and actions taken in response.
- Referral information — Referral codes, who issued or redeemed them, and information needed to operate and protect the referral system.
- Notification information — Information needed to send push notifications to your device if you enable them.
- Technical information — Limited server logs such as your IP address, account identifier, request timestamps, request information, and error or diagnostic information.
- Usage information — Information about how you use the Momnt app, such as which screens you view and which features you use, collected for product analytics.
Momnt does not currently request access to your contacts.
If you grant Momnt permission to access your device's location, we collect a coarse set of device coordinates (latitude and longitude) at the moment you capture a Moment photo. We use these coordinates to show an approximate location — your country — for that Moment to other users, subject to your location-visibility setting.
2. Permissions we request
- Camera — To capture Moments directly in the app.
- Photo library — To choose a profile photo and to save or export a Moment to your device.
- Location — To show an approximate location (your country) for a Moment you capture, if you grant this permission.
- Notifications — To notify you about events, reminders, reactions, comments, mentions, and announcements.
You can change these permissions through your device settings.
3. How we use your information
We use your information to:
- Provide Momnt core features — Create, authenticate, and manage your account, let you capture and share Moments, determine whether you are eligible to view content for an event, and power following, comments, mentions, reactions, and referral features.
- Confirm your eligibility — Check that you meet Momnt's age requirement.
- Send notifications — Deliver the notification categories you have enabled.
- Keep Momnt safe — Apply blocks and other user-safety controls, review reports and moderate content, prevent fraud, abuse, and spam, and enforce our Community Guidelines and Terms of Service.
- Maintain and improve Momnt — Keep the service running, troubleshoot problems, and make it better.
- Support and legal — Respond to support and privacy requests, comply with the law and valid legal requests, and defend Momnt if a legal claim is made.
4. Legal bases for processing
Where applicable privacy law requires us to identify a legal basis for processing your information, we may rely on:
- Providing the service — Processing necessary to provide Momnt and the features you request.
- Legitimate interests — Processing reasonably necessary to operate, secure, moderate, and protect Momnt and its users.
- Consent — Processing you have agreed to, including for certain device permissions.
- Legal obligations — Processing or retention required by applicable law.
5. What other users can see
Not every Moment is visible to every Momnt user.
Moments for an event are available to users who satisfy Momnt's participation requirements for that event, subject to restrictions such as blocking, moderation decisions, and account bans.
Any registered Momnt user can view another user's profile page. A profile page shows the information below, plus that user's Moments from past events, subject to the same blocking, moderation, and account-ban restrictions.
Other users can find your profile by searching for your username or display name.
Depending on how you use Momnt, other eligible users may see:
- Your username.
- Your display name.
- Your profile photo.
- Your bio and public link, if you add them.
- Your country, if you choose to display it.
- Your moment count and current posting streak.
- Your follower and following counts, and the accounts you follow and that follow you.
- Your Moments and captions.
- Your comments and mentions.
- Your reactions, which only the author of that Moment or comment can see.
Blocking someone removes any follow relationship between you in both directions. Unblocking does not restore it — either of you would have to follow again.
Your email address and date of birth are not shown to other users.
You can share a link to your profile (usemomnt.com/@username). Opening that link takes you into the Momnt app if it is installed, where the same visibility rules described above apply — the profile is not shown to anyone who is not a signed-in Momnt user. If the app is not installed, the link opens a generic page that does not show any of your profile information.
Usernames can change hands. If you change away from a username, or delete your account, that username may later be given to someone else. A profile link you shared earlier may, after that happens, open a different person's profile rather than yours.
People who can see your content may take screenshots, record their screen, or share content outside Momnt. We cannot control copies made by other users after content has been displayed to them.
6. Moderation and safety
Reports and reported content are reviewed by people. We do not use automated decision-making to remove content or ban accounts.
Only authorised Momnt administrators can access reported content. They may remove it or permanently ban the account responsible, and moderation records are retained as described under "Data retention".
How reporting, blocking, and enforcement work is described in our Terms of Service and Community Guidelines.
7. Service providers
We use third-party service providers to operate Momnt. Our current providers include:
- Google Firebase — Account sign-in and push-notification delivery.
- Google Analytics — Website analytics, where you consent to analytics cookies.
- Apple — Push-notification delivery to iOS devices.
- Supabase — Database hosting.
- Cloudflare — Storage and delivery of Moment photos and profile photos, website delivery, and bot protection on our website forms.
- Resend — Sending service emails, such as account and report notices.
- Hetzner — Servers hosting.
- Sentry — Crash and error reporting for the Momnt app.
- PostHog — Product analytics for the Momnt app, including your account identifier, to understand how people use Momnt.
These providers may process information on our behalf where necessary to provide their services to Momnt.
8. Cookies and similar technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies on our website. The Momnt mobile app does not use advertising cookies, and does not share information with third parties for advertising or ad-targeting purposes.
- Strictly necessary — Required for the website to work and to remember your cookie choice. These cannot be disabled, and are used on the basis of our legitimate interest in operating a functioning website. This includes bot-protection technology on our contact form.
- Analytics — Google Analytics, used to understand how people find and use Momnt. These are only set if you accept them.
When you first visit our website you are asked to accept or reject analytics cookies. Analytics cookies are not set unless you accept. If you reject, or ignore the banner, no analytics cookies are stored on your device.
Google Analytics collects information such as the pages you visit, approximate location derived from your IP address, and general information about your browser and device. We do not use it for advertising, and we do not sell this information. Google may process this information outside your country — see International processing and transfers.
You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using the Cookie preferences link in our website footer. Withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it, and does not affect anything you did on the site beforehand. You can also block or delete cookies through your browser settings.
We do not use cookies to identify you personally on our website, and website analytics is not linked to your Momnt account.
9. Push notifications
If you enable notifications, we may notify you about:
- New Events — When an event opens for capture.
- Moment Reminders — Reminders to post before an event closes.
- Reactions — When someone reacts to your Moment or your comment.
- Comments — When someone comments on your Moment or mentions you in a comment.
- New Followers — When someone starts following you.
- Announcements — Occasional service updates.
You can manage notification categories through Momnt and can disable push notifications through your device settings.
10. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information.
We may share information:
- With other users — As described under "What other users can see".
- With service providers — As necessary to operate and support Momnt.
- For safety and legal reasons — As reasonably necessary to investigate abuse, protect Momnt or its users, comply with law, or respond to valid legal requests.
- As part of a business transfer — If Momnt or assets used to operate Momnt are acquired, merged, reorganised, or transferred.
11. Data retention
We keep information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy.
Your account, profile information, Moments, comments, reactions, follows, preferences, and other active service information are generally retained while your account remains active unless you delete them earlier.
Technical server logs are normally retained for 30 days and are then automatically removed.
When you delete a Moment, it stops being visible through the normal Momnt experience. A private recovery copy may remain for up to 30 days before automatic deletion.
When you delete your account, we remove your active account and associated live content. A private recovery copy of account information may remain for up to 30 days before automatic deletion.
Some limited information may be kept for longer where reasonably necessary for safety, abuse investigation, fraud prevention, moderation, enforcement, legal compliance, audit, or dispute resolution purposes.
This may include account-deletion audit records, referral-audit information, and moderation records involving a deleted account. These are kept only for as long as they remain necessary for those purposes, and are deleted when they are no longer needed, unless we are required to keep them for longer by law or to resolve an ongoing dispute or investigation.
Our service providers may also retain residual copies in their systems or backups according to their own security, backup, and deletion processes.
12. Account deletion
You can initiate deletion of your Momnt account from within the app at any time.
Deleting your account removes your active account and ordinary product data, including your profile, Moments, comments, reactions, follows in both directions, settings, notifications, and other associated service information.
Some information may remain temporarily as part of our recovery processes or for longer where necessary for safety, fraud prevention, moderation, enforcement, legal compliance, or audit purposes, as described under "Data retention".
13. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures designed to help protect your personal information against unauthorised access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure.
No method of transmitting or storing information is completely secure. While we take reasonable steps to protect your information, we cannot guarantee that unauthorised access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure will never occur, and we do not warrant that Momnt or its underlying systems will be free from vulnerabilities or interruption.
You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for activity that takes place under your account. Do not share your password, and use a password you do not use for other services.
If you believe your Momnt account or information has been compromised, contact privacy@usemomnt.com promptly so that we can investigate.
14. International processing and transfers
Momnt is operated from Egypt and uses service providers located in other countries.
Our primary application database and media storage are currently hosted in the European Union. Other service providers may process information in the United States or other countries where they operate.
Your information may therefore be processed outside the country where you live.
Where applicable privacy law requires safeguards for international transfers of personal information, we will take the steps required by that law.
15. Your choices and rights

To exercise a privacy right, contact privacy@usemomnt.com.
17. Information about other people
Momnt is a camera-based social service. Your Moments may include other people or information about them. Please consider the privacy and rights of people around you before capturing or posting a Moment.

18. Children's privacy

19. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as Momnt evolves. We will notify you of any changes by updating this page and revising the "Last updated" date at the top. If a change is material, we will provide additional notice where appropriate.
